Dear bridal couple,
You have come here today to be married. It’s a great and important event when two people choose to live together in matrimony. By getting married, you promise to support each other through all of life’s aspects, both in prosperity and adversity.
Marriage requires that you promise each other love and faithfulness. It demands of you to have high expectations for your relationship and at the same time it demands your sincere will to strive to reach those expectations today and in the future. This is what you are promising each other today.
By entering into marriage, you will become one, but at the same continue to be two independent and equal people. There is no opposition between love and togetherness on the one hand and freedom and independence on the other. Love is also showing respect for each other.
It’s a right I have, but also a duty put upon me by the governing laws, to install in you the seriousness of the vow you are about to commit to.
And now:
I Ask you first (bride's name/part 1, the youngest):
Do you want (groom's name/part 2, the eldest) standing by your side to be your spouse?
And now I ask you (groom's name/part 2, the eldest):
Do you want (bride's name/part 1, the youngest) standing by your side to be your spouse?
In the presence of witnesses, you have promised each other to live as a married couple. I hereby declare you to be lawfully married.
